Serving the Greater Philadelphia, New Jersey & Lehigh Valley areas
One of the more scary and dramatic signs of settlement is a chimney separating away from the rest of the home.
Sometimes chimneys are built on a foundation that is not connected to the rest of the home, making it even more at risk of settlement.
At BQ Basement Systems, we specialize in foundation repairs of all kinds -- including those related to tilting, leaning chimneys. Our warrantied solutions will quickly and permanently solve your foundation issue.
Your chimney or smokestack is tilting and separating from your home.
We repair tilting and leaning chimneys with exclusive rights to Supportworks Helical Pier System.
These helical piers are mounted directly on the chimney's footer, and can even be used to attempt to lift the chimney back to its original position.
However, structural issues with your chimney are often connected to other, potentially much more serious foundation problems. The same problems that caused your chimney to lean and show signs of failure can apply equally to your foundation or structure.
Our company permanently repairs tilting, leaning chimneys! Call us for a free chimney foundation repair quote today!
We serve Allentown, Bethlehem, Lancaster, Philadelphia, and many nearby areas in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
When chimneys start to lean or tilt away from the home structure - this may be a dramatic sign of a larger more significant problem. Typically when chimneys show this sort of pull or extraction from the home, there generally is a larger foundation issue causing this foundation issue.
By contacting our company, BQ Basement Systems, one of our professional foundation experts will visit your home and assess what kind of damage has been occurred and identify what repairs are necessary for your residence. Because this is often one symptom of a potentially larger foundation issue, we recommend checking the rest of the house for problems as well.

Be careful: Many contractors try the inexpensive and short-term approach for repairing chimneys by filling in the void between your house and chimney - which is not the answer!
Many homeowners wind up choosing this method of repair - filling the chimney void with masonry, foam, caulk, or some other material. However, this approach is only temporary and makes it more complicated and expensive when the real repairs need to be made.
What causes chimneys to lean?
One of the most common reasons chimneys begin to lean is accountable to the poor surrounding soils around the chimney. If the soils surrounding your chimney aren't adequate enough to hold the structure (some weigh tens of thousands of pounds), the chimney may begin to sink, causing it to separate from the rest of the home and tilt outward.
If this is the case, it's highly possible that the soils underneath the rest of your home are also unable to hold the structural weight of the building, which may lead to other costly foundation repairs.
Contact our foundation repair company today and one of our foundation experts will be able to determine what is causing the structural problem and inspect if there are other issues present in your foundation.
Helical piers repair tilting chimneys
Here at BQ Basement Systems, we highly recommend repairing tilting chimneys with a helical pier system. These pier systems are advanced into the ground to reach stronger supporting soils with one or more bearing plates, commonly known as helical blades, attached to the shaft.
Once driven into the ground, heavy-duty steel brackets are positioned below and against the chimney footing. The weight of the home is then transferred through the helical piers to deep, competent soils. Once installed, the helical pier can attempt to lift the chimney back toward its original position.
