The owners of this Dresher home were having issues with their wood framed structure that was built in the 1950’s with an addition built in the 1990’s. Almost 20 years after the addition was built, the homeowners began to notice severe cracks in the foundation of the addition that indicated a substantial settlement problem.
BQ Basement Systems was contacted to repair the problem and after discovering that no footings were present, it was determined that a new footing would need to be installed before the foundation could be permanently stabilized. BQ reacted quickly by installing the new footings along with twelve (12) Foundation Supportworks™ Helical Piers to transfer the load of the structure to competent load bearing stratum. The footings were installed first to provide an adequate bearing surface for the piers, and then helical piers were advanced to depths of approximately 20 feet to reach competent load bearing soils. This fixed the problem in no time!
